We are doing our part to keep Olney a
lovely, clean and green city!
Our House blend coffee is a blend of four varietal beans,
grown using fair trade practices and roasted in Champaign, Illinois.
Our huge variety of loose teas are
all organic, biodynamically grown and hand blended by a family in upstate New York. They know us when we call
them (the beauty of small businesses!) and we can be assured that the teas we serve are fresh and just what our customers
want!
We proudly serve David Rio chai, a small San Fransisco based company that uses natural flavoring
and minimally processed sweeteners (no chemicals!) to create a drink with a delicious taste that can be enjoyed by everyone,
even diabetics and those who are lactose intolerant! Plus, David Rio donates a portion of their profits to endangered
species restoration (which is why all of their flavors are named after animals... Tiger, Elephant, Orca, etc!)
Our menu changes daily...and seasonally. We strive to serve as much locally grown, seasonal produce as possible, so
you can know that you are enjoying delicious meals created using healthful ingredients! (and when it's local, it's
not travelling from miles and miles away, which only burns fossil fuels and contributes to global warming and the crazy high
cost of gasoline burned to get it here!)
We have always believed in the beauty of plates, linens and glasses to
make your meal feel more special. This also means that the waste stream created by serving your meals is minimized...less
paper trash, less packaging and throw away "stuff." And we believe that food tastes better when served on
the real deal, too!
Speaking of packaging, we're happy to send your to go meals home in recyclable and compostable
plastic and eco friendly paper products (petroleum-free and produced with post-consumer recyclables). So go ahead and
rinse those to go cups and boxes out and the city recycling cart will take 'em!!!
You've seen all of our
interesting "old" stuff hanging here and there and all over the tables...we are big believers in the beauty of vintage.
Instead of throwing books and papers away, we pile 'em up, and take them to the 4H paper drive or to local schools for
craft projects. Yes, we can get overwhelmed by all the paper, but there's always something to read (for everyone!!!)
and it's all part of our commitment to reduce our waste flow and our impact on the city and the planet.
We love being Green, and love that our customers support our efforts to take care of Olney, and Mother Earth!
